Want to Run the Monorail?

Here’s your opportunity. Seattle Center has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for a concessionaire to operate, maintain, market and manage Seattle Center Monorail, with an initial term beginning Jan. 1, 2015. Proposals are due on Jan. 9, 2014.

Did you know that Seattle Center Monorail is owned by the City of Seattle? The system consists of two trains, a guideway, .9 miles of tracks and two stations, It carries over 2 million annual one-way riders between downtown Seattle and Seattle Center. Apart from capital investment in major maintenance and capital projects, the Monorail has consistently generated positive annual net revenue that is divided between the City and concessionaire.

You can learn more about operating the Monorail at a pre-proposal conference and tour of the Monorail facilities, scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 29, 2013 in room 310 of Seattle Center Armory. Notes from the conference will be placed at http://ebidexchange.com/seattle.

You may submit questions about this RFP via email by 5 p.m. on Dec. 5. A written response from the City will be issued no later than Dec. 20, 2013. Proposals are due at 5 p.m. on Jan. 9, 2014 at Seattle Center, 305 Harrison Street, Room 109, Seattle, WA 98109.
