CroatiaFest, Oct. 5

Continuous live performances and delectable Croatian foods highlight Seattle Center Festál:  CroatiaFest, 12 p.m. – 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 5, in Seattle Center Armory. Traditional music and dance, exquisite costumes, art exhibits, tourist information and displays will showcase Croatia’s rich past and dynamic present.

The free festivities begin on the Armory Mainstage with opening ceremonies at 12 p.m. and continue throughout the day with acclaimed Croatian musicians, dance ensembles and singing groups. Festival-goers may plan their next trip to Croatia and trace their Croatian roots. There also will be a Croatian crafts market and activities for the children and families.

The festival will roast an entire lamb from Croatian-Whidbey Island farmer, Joanne Martinis. Other Croatian food includes grilled meat sausage served on pita bread with red pepper sauce, Croatian style prosciutto sandwiches, and sweet bread with walnuts.

Three cooking demonstrations will detail the intricacies of making the finest Croatian dishes. Armory food vendors like PIE and Quincy’s will participate as well with their own Croatian-inspired dishes, and Seattle wine expert Richard Kinssies will provide an educational winetasting, where participants learn about the origin of the Croatian Plavac Mali grape (admissions charge applies).

CroatiaFest is produced in partnership with CroatiaFest Committee. For more information on CroatiaFest, visit Click on or call 206 684-7200 to learn more about Seattle Center Festál and other outstanding public programming offered at Seattle Center.
