Removal of KeyArena Sign at Climate Pledge Arena

Today, a significant milestone in the construction of Climate Pledge Arena takes place with the removal of the KeyArena sign from the historic roof of the building.

The sign will be removed by helicopter in 10 separate picks.

The arena, located at Seattle Center, will be home to Seattle’s new NHL franchise, three-time WNBA world champion Seattle Storm, and the best in live entertainment and music. It is currently undergoing a transformation to construct a brand new arena under the landmark Paul Thiry-designed roof.

On June 25, Amazon, NHL Seattle and Oak View Group announced they had entered into a partnership to name the building ‘Climate Pledge Arena’ and make it the first net zero carbon certified arena in the world. This followed Amazon and Global Optimism’s announcement of Climate Pledge, which calls on signatories to be net zero carbon across their businesses by 2040—a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement. The new crown ID for Climate Pledge Arena will be installed in the coming months.
