Planned Power Outage on Seattle Center Campus – February 10

The power on Seattle Center campus will be temporarily interrupted for approximately 9 hours on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, beginning at 9:00 p.m.

The outage will affect all facilities on the Seattle Center grounds EXCEPT FOR: 1st Ave N Garage, 5th Ave N Garage, 5.5 Building, Gates Foundation Headquarters, Pacific Science Center and Pottery Northwest.

City Light crews will be installing the new electrical service for Climate Pledge Arena. Future outages may be required in the next two years to maintain electrical reliability at Seattle Center.

TIPS TO PREPARE FOR AN OUTAGE:

  • Customers relying on an electric life-support system should have back-up power and know how to operate it.
  • Food should be safe in most cases if refrigerators and freezers remain shut while the power is out. When in doubt, please throw it out.
  • Know which entrance and exit door to use in a secured building.
  • Make sure computers are turned off in advance of the outage.
  • Sometimes alarm systems are triggered when the power goes out or is restored; you may want to make any necessary arrangements with your carrier.
  • If you plan to use a portable generator, please be extremely careful. Never plug your generator into an electrical outlet; plug your appliance directly into the generator and run them outdoors.
