Overnight Emergency Shelter

With freezing temperatures hitting our area again, Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center will be open on Wednesday, Dec. 14 starting at 6pm. to provide an overnight shelter for people 18+ experiencing homelessness. It will remain open overnight, and close the morning of Thursday, Dec. 22 at 9am. Low temperatures are expected to be in the 30’s for the next few days, and this overnight shelter will ensure that people have some respite from the elements. At this time, the shelter is expected to remain open through Thursday, Dec. 22 between the hours of 6pm – 9am.

The building will be staffed by The Salvation Army and is being opened as an emergency severe weather shelter at the request of the King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) in partnership with the City of Seattle.

Warming Shelter

Seattle Center Armory Food and Event Hall will serve as a warming center during regular building hours of 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

We know that housing is the solution to homelessness, and emergency shelter during extreme weather events addresses the immediate need for warmth but does not address the root cause. Housing is a basic human need that everyone should have access to.
