Northwest Folklife Festival
From Home to Home: Seattle Children’s Festival, presented by Northwest Folklife, provides a virtual space for kids to sing, dance, play, and discover from the comfort of their homes. The two-day children’s festival features live performances, interactive workshops, and fun activities for the whole family! Pacific Science Center
PacSci’s Curiosity at Home content supplements the fall curriculum with live science shows, downloadable hands-on activities, and other resources to engage learners in this new, digital learning environment. Teachers can even take their students on a virtual visit to PacSci to explore exhibits and meet animals like the naked mole rat colony. Curiosity at Home content is curated by grade level, and topics include astronomy, physics, chemistry, engineering, environmental science, plants and animals, and math.
PacSci’s Curiosity Courses are a series of self-guided, self-paced STEM activities for maximized offline fun and learning. Each course is designed for a specific age group and can be followed sequentially or in your preferred order. The first Curiosity Course, Outdoor Explorations, offered for free until Wednesday, Aug. 26 guides little learners through activities that will use their observation and exploration skills by looking and listening, pattern matching, watching the weather, and finding animals who call that area home. Recommended Ages: PreK-1. Cost: Free/Suggested donation $10.
Seattle Children’s Theatre and KING FM
Seattle Children’s Theatre and Classical KING FM 98.1 present a 10-week education series titled Saturday Morning Stories to bring beloved children’s literature to life through a crescendo of whimsical melodies and narrated plots. Hand selected titles like Goodnight Moon and Peter and the Wolf take families on a classical music adventure where they can simultaneously engage in activities uniquely curated by SCT for each production that everyone can enjoy. Listeners can tune in at 8:30 a.m., Aug. 15 through Oct. 24.
