Seattle Center Festál: Irish Festival offers entertainment, exploration and insights into the culture of Ireland, Saturday, March 12, 12 noon – 6 p.m., and Sunday, March 13, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. in Center House.
Shop for authentic Irish products, create Celtic arts and crafts and enjoy a weekend of non-stop Irish music, award-winning dance and children’s activities. Festival-goers may trace their roots in genealogy workshops, learn the Irish language and take in colorful cultural exhibits and contemporary Irish short films.
Special events and guests this year include:
- Sephira, sisters Joyce and Ruth O’Leary, two young classically trained violinists and singers from Co. Monaghan, Ireland
- Fiddling, dancing and singing sensations, the Gothard Sisters
- Street View Ireland booth to virtually explore popular Irish tourist attractions, Irish country roads, villages, towns and cities in Ireland.
- Exhibit of the works by photographer Katrina Morrison, a Michigan native who currently resides in Kilkee, County Clare, Ireland, where she runs the Butter Market Art Gallery.
- 30th Anniversary exhibit of the Irish-made DeLorean DMC-12 sports cars, the model made famous in the 1985 movie ‘Back to the Future’.
Seattle Center Festál: Irish Festival, one in the series of 21 Seattle Center Festál cultural events, underscores the unique creative contributions, customs, foods and ideals of Ireland. The Festival is produced by Seattle Center in partnership with the Irish Heritage Club of Seattle.
