“In general, with music in the fountain, I’m trying to create an inviting atmosphere for people to interact with the water. I favor instrumental stuff, because mainly I find that instrumental works best for people to just interact with the water.
These mixes all sound nice . . . it’s the icing on the cake for me to tell a story. You’re never going to hear me put death metal in there. It will sound ridiculous. You’re not going to hear Skinny Puppy in the fountain, or Total Noise. I’m not there to bring irritation or ugliness, I’m there to bring beauty and to have it be a welcoming place. Sure, there’s ugliness in the world, but I don’t think the fountain needs to reflect that. The fountain is to be beautiful and inviting and soothing in a way, but exciting– gives you energy, make people feel good. It’s just a response to the moment. I want to give people a soundtrack.”
